Re: Accessing a series from a panel wf other then the one in use

I now understand - took a bit longer, apologies (also inspecting a db containing a series coming from a panel wf helped). So the suggestion would be that series coming from a wf page with a panel structure should be stored together with some pieces of structural information in a db: 1) as it is stan...

Re: Accessing a series from a panel wf other then the one in use

I think, there are two issues here which should not be mixed up: first, structure-consistent references of panel data: the panel structure of the series in the targeted wf conforms with the structure of the referring wf page in use. Second structure-inconsistent copying (and reference) of panel data...

Re: Accessing a series from a panel wf other then the one in use

Many thanks for your answer Luckily EViews will interpret a workfile as a database, so it does in general work. However, since databases don't support panels, when using this hack, panel information is lost Contrary to what you say, it seems that EVIEWS databases do support panel structures. The cod...

Accessing a series from a panel wf other then the one in use

Dear Eviews team, I use Eviews 10+, March 2018 I detected unexpected behavior of EVIEWS when trying to access a series (named x) from an open panel file (named f2) which is different from the one in use (named f1) - both files having the same panel structure. show f2::x does not show the series x in...

AddIn groupstatby

Dear all please find attached an AddIn named "groupstatby". (In order to use it, one would rename the file attached to "groupstatby.aipz") The AddIn provides uni- or bivariate (e.g.: correlation, or covariance) statistics of the series contained in a Group, or of a single Series,...

Re: import(resize) match-merging does not work as expected with panel data

I have also detected the following unexpected behavior of the 'import' command: an unstructured workfile with more than one identifier variables can be imported by match-merging the same identifier variables in the destination page. However, the same procedure does not work with the destination page...

import(resize) match-merging does not work as expected with panel data

Dear Eviews team, I use Eviews 10+ March 2018 build Match-merge import with re-sizing does not work as expected with panel data, see example code below. Best, mamo ' Create wf with two pages structured as panels wfcreate(page=p1) a 2000 2001 2 series x1=@crossid pagecreate(page=p2) a 2000 2001 3 ser...

Re: How to check for existence of an URL?

Many thanks, this is a workable patch-around. For completeness and for whom it may be useful, I provide below a subroutine with improved code (disabling also log-messages, and resetting the error counter). However, this work-around requires reading in the respective file linked to by the url. If the...

How to check for existence of an URL?

Dear Eviewers, I use Eviews 10+. Would anybody have a suggestion how to check for the existence of an url? (for instance: excel file with US GDP data at the BEA, "https://www.bea.gov/national/xls/gdplev.xlsx") It seems that the Eviews-function "@fileexist" does not work with urls...

Dear Eviews team, I am Using Eviews 10+, 15 March 2018 build; It seems that the command 'wfselect' does not work as intended when used in a program, see example code below Best, mamo 'create two artificial wfs wfcreate w1 a 2000 2010 wfcreate w2 a 2000 2010 'now w2 is the active workfile wfselect w1...

Re: x.sheet(tform=d) transforms x rather than only affecting the view of x

Correction: I realised that x.sheet(tform=d) does not transform the series x. However, the sheet view does not revert back to the default option "tform=level" - as documented in the help text - when thereafter the tform argument is not explicitly being provided. This can be confusing and p...

x.sheet(tform=d) transforms x rather than only affecting the view of x

Dear Eviews team I use Eviews 10, March 15 2018 built. I noticed that the "tform" option to the x.sheet view actually transforms the series x rather than only affecting the display of x, see example program below. wfcreate a 2001 2008 series x=@obsnum x.sheet ' ok x.sheet(tform=d) ' ok, bu...

x.sheet(w) does not work in dated panel

Dear Eviews team I use Eviews 10, March 15 2018 built. I noticed that the "w" option to the .sheet view does not work with dated panels, see example program below wfcreate a 2001 2008 4 series x=@obsnum x.sheet ' stacked view x.sheet(w) ' this should provide the unstacked view, but does no...

sheet view with error in argume tform - Eviews breaks down

Dear Eviews team, I use Eviews 10 March 2018 built the command x.sheet(tform=diff) gives rise to a break-down of Eviews. This happens with any other wrong "tform" argument provided. Of course, correct is tform=dif, but you may want to prevent Eviews from breaking down on account of a such ...
