It sounds like you're using the roll user object, not the rolling regression add-in? You might be better off using the add-in.

Its an optimization in the same sense that find the optimal value of X such that X+3=0 is an optimization.

Ols does not have convergence. There is nothing to converge.

Looks like the for loop part of your code will work just fine.

I'll point out that 17.5 is not an integer by the way.
