Re: Information criterion for automatic lag length selection

The Command and Programming reference doesn't have any listing for the series.uroot proc.

It is listed in the Object Reference.

I think that's the 2nd element?

Overflow error

Generates number that are huge.

Imagine you have a model that says:
Y=10*y(-1)^3

With y_0=1000 and you forecast it for 100 periods - you’ll find you quickly get to a point where the numbers are infeasibly large.

Re: Optimal AIC-based max lag ADF test

There's an undocumented option (that we really need to document...) to save all the useful stuff from the test.

Code: Select all

myseries.uroot(save=myvector)

will save the useful statistics from the unit root test into the vector myvector. The last element contains the number of selected lags.

Re: sample/string error in subroutine

Hard to say without more context. A simple example seems to work:

Code: Select all

create m 1990 2000
series s1=nrnd
series s2=nrnd
call foo("1991m01", "1991m02")

subroutine foo(string %firstdate1, string %firstdate2)
   series s1adj = s1*@elem(s2, %firstdate2)/@elem(s1, %firstdate2)
endsub

Re: About series updating and the database fuction

Write an EViews program that opens the Excel file and then does the analysis. Then each time you run the program, it will grab the latest version of the Excel file.

Re: About series updating and the database fuction

1) I don't really understand this question - there are multiple ways to "update" your data in EViews. The efficiency of each depends on the rest of the work-flow. 2) Databases have many useful features, but the two main reasons for storing data in an EViews database rather than a workfile ...

No other reports of that - weird. Could you email support@eviews.com so we can investigate further?

Re: Connecting if statement with a table

Code: Select all

create u 100
series y=nrnd
series x5=nrnd

table mytable
mytable(2,1) = "x5"

matrix(3,3) mymatrix
mymatrix(2,1) = 5

%reg = mytable(2,1)
equation eq1.ls y c {%reg}

!reg = mymatrix(2,1)
equation eq2.ls y c x!reg
