Re: Eviews slow win64, Norton uninstall

Thanks, very interesting. Don't think it is mostly an Intel issue, since I had similar results on the i3 machine I tried it on.

I am still wondering if I can expect a 64 bit version, as it will affect my choice of operating system on my office machine.
Thanks again.

Re: Eviews slow win64, Norton uninstall

Same build dates May 29, 2012 At this point the important question is whether I can expect a 64 bit version of Eviews in the next couple years. If not, then I will want the 32 bit version of win7 when I replace my office machine next year. For the record Version of program which uses LS y x1 x2 comm...

Re: Eviews slow win64, Norton uninstall

Yes, running in quiet mode, and no, does not need to access HD. Am using Version 4 substitutions. I was curious to compare speeds, so the program is very simple. Create U 10000 tic For !A = 1 to 10 For !B = 1 to 1000 genr x1 = nrnd genr x2 = nrnd geny y = x1 +x2 +nrnd LS y x1 x2 Next Next !elapse = ...

Eviews slow win64, Norton uninstall

I am trying to figure out why my batch programs run in twice the time on my new HP H8-1200z (Win 7 64 bit, cpu is AMD FX-6100, 8GB ram, video card is AMD Radeon HD 7450), compared to my old win xp machine. My list of attempted fixes: I am using G-data anti-virus. But turning off the virus monitor di...

Re: Lc in Cointreg

I think I have found a couple typographical errors in the users guide documentation for Hansen’s Lc cointegration test. The attached file explains where I think changes are needed. I believe I have the most recent users guide. Also, I am suggesting that some of the notation allows for a vector of co...

Re: Lc in Cointreg

Very helpful comments, confirms my motivation for trying to write my own program. For instance, for an interest rate I am comfortable with modeling the u_2t as a trend-free first difference, but for RGDP I would want to see a constant in the differenced regressor model. So I would like to avoid usin...

Re: Student Version

This is great news, we have a site license. Is there a way for our bookstore to carry this item, or do students need to order direct from Eviews?

Student Version

I use Eviews in teaching introductory undergraduate time series. I have students use simulations to investigate the impact of misspecification, asymptotics, and data-mining. As part of their semester projects they are expected to provide programs which show any data transformations, and to write pro...

Lc in Cointreg

Has the Eviews calculation of the Lc statistic (cointreg/cointegration test/Hansen's Instability) been checked against the output of the Gauss program posted on Hansen's website? I expect rounding errors to differ, but not sure what order of difference to expect.
Thanks

Re: LR covariance in COINTREG versus LRCOV

Tried making the suggested changes, still get a difference in the two-sided lrcov more on the order of 10^-3. If you get different results running the same program, then this is a mystery. I am using Eviews 7.2 under WinXP. If you modified the program and found a difference of more on the order of 1...

LR covariance in COINTREG versus LRCOV

The equation command COINTREG outputs the two-sided and one-sided long run covariance data members @lrcov and @lambda12cov To be sure I understand what this equation command is doing, I am trying to reproduce these data members using my own calculations of the cointegrating ols and x-var residuals, ...

Re: FMOLS Equation objects

Thanks. This is useful for two reasons: 1) To be sure I understand the procedure, I am trying to reproduce the COINTREG results using my own Eviews program. No luck yet, my own fmols coef estimates differ by about 10%. 2) The intermediate results are needed to construct the stability test statistic ...

Edit replace settings

I dealt with this issue years ago, but don't remember where to find the setting: When manually editing a program file, I usually want the menu drop-down item Edit/Replace (or the Replace button) to search only below the cursor, rather than searching and replacing in the whole document. Recently Repl...
