Clearing Program log

Hi,

I wanted to clear all the errors in the program log. I used the code "clearerrs" after my program. However, that is not working. Do you know what might be the reason for the same?

Using the UN Comtrade data API with EViews

Hi,

Wanted to know whether we have some way to import the data from the UN Comtrade website using API's? I could find something similar for R: https://comtrade.un.org/data/Doc/api/ex/r
Was wondering whether we have something similar for EViews

Thanks in advance

Re: midas regression-forecasting

was able to do that Gareth. My question is whether we can do it the other way- ie, if I have monthly values, can I forecast the dependent variable also on a monthly basis?

midas regression-forecasting

Hi,
Currently I ran a MIDAS regression with a dependent variable "y", observed at a lower frequency (quarterly) and with an independent variable "x" observed at a higher frequency (monthly). Now is it possible to forecast "y" on a monthly basis from the results?

MIDAS Regression- Method- U-MIDAS

Wanted to get a clarification regarding the option: U-MIDAS available within the MIDAS regression. Isn't this unrestricted MIDAS itself? there is no documentation regarding this option in the user guide.

MIDAS Regression- Insufficient number of observations error

Hi, Is there any restriction on the maximum number of variables that I can consider while running an Unrestricted MIDAS or Almon lag model? Currently I have 210 independent variables, I have interpolated them as well. so there are no missing entries. However, I still get "Insufficient number of...

Thanks Gareth, It worked after I transformed the sym object to matrix. :)

Re: Rank of a matrix

I am searching for the RANK of a matrix (as in matrix algebra) that is done by Gaussian elimination-- not ranking based on ascending/ descending order. Looks like EViews doesnot offer that functionality :( developing one now!

Re: Rank of a matrix

Kindly note that I have a symmetric matrix and hence when I try to use @ranks, I'm getting an error.

Rank of a matrix

Hi,

Is there a way to calculate the rank of a matrix/ echelon form of a matrix in eviews?

Thanks

Re: Last/First non-NA observation

Hi Gareth,

Is there a way that I can find the date on which the first non- na observation falls.

for instance, if I find first non-na using @first (Series)
I want to find the date associated with that particular value
I tried to use @otod as well. Can you please help me.

Thanks in advance,
Saranya

sorting/ ranking the data in a table

Hi, Is there a way to rank elements in a particular column of a table? I went through the rank and sort functions available within eviews. However, was not able to implement the same for a table. My end requirement is to rank the data series based on the period of observation. Kindly help. I'm also ...

Re: Extracting Principal Components via code

The length of the eval vector is always equal to the total number of variables/ Principal components. It is not dependent on the cumulative proportion that one mentions in the code. :(
