Re: Windows XP to Windows 7
I downloaded 7.1 and the problem resolved. Should I download 7.2 while I am at it?

Windows XP to Windows 7
I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. I have version 7.0 enterprise edition of eviews. When I run one of my command files I get this error message: Internal Error 500 in "MATRIX RANKS_{%X}_TR = @COLRANKS(@TRANSPOSE(MAT_MOM312))" When I run the same command on an XP machine it runs ...

Mean-Variance Optimization
What is the best approach to m-v optimization in ev7? Use @logl or is there another way?

Fetch vs Update DB
When I right click on a work file variable the pop-down menu has several choices, including "Fetch from DB" and "Update from DB". What is the difference?

Re: Cross-sectional ranks
I downloaded an ev7 update and now @colranks works, but there still is nothing in the documentation about it. Is there a @rowranks as well?

Re: Cross-sectional ranks
I spoke too soon. When I use @colranks() I get an Error 500 message. And I can't find this function anywhere in the eviews 7 documentation. Is this a discontinued function?

Cross-sectional ranks
I have a pool of time series. I want to create a new set of the series where each observation is the cross-sectional rank (at a point in time) across the pool. How do I do this in e-views? Do I have to use matrix operations? Thanks, Tom

Re: importing from mixed numerical and alpha files
The File/Open/Foreign Data as workfile works perfectly. Thanks! :D The Proc/Import/Read Text-Lotus-Excel did not work. I must have the naming syntax wrong. I listed the names as: x01 $ x02 x03 x04 x05 x06 x07 x08 x09m x10 x11 x12 x13 x14 x15 $ x16 $ x18 $ x19 $ x20 $ x21 $ x22 $ x23 $ x24 x25 The in...

Re: importing from mixed numerical and alpha files
I am working through the GUI. I have a work file set up as "series alpha." When I use the ACII Text Import on the text file data and insert NAME $ x1 x2 etc. it imports everything in NA. When I use the proc excel spreadsheet import on the data in excel using that naming line it imports eve...

importing from mixed numerical and alpha files
I am having trouble importing tab delimited files either in .txt or .xls formats. The data has 25 columns with no headers. Some columns are alpha and some numeric. There must be some simple command lines to do this but the user's guide doesn't have much on alpha data.

Re: Markov switching model
Did you ever find a way to estimate Markov Switching models in E-Views?
