Re: Statconn basic server test fails to connect with R 3.0

Excellent thanks a lot, i'd be very grateful. It looks like it's built in to the BVAR functionality somehow but i couldn't work out how to just pull out a random draw. thanks a lot for this, it's REALLY appreciated.

Re: Statconn basic server test fails to connect with R 3.0

Sorry to bump a semi-old topic... anybody had any luck getting the Eviews -> R link to work since RandFriends was removed? I tried doing the install process described here http://homepage.univie.ac.at/erich.neuwirth/php/rcomwiki/doku.php?id=wiki:how_to_install but it's clearly been a while since it ...

command line / programming for user specified bin sizes?

quick/easy q, it's simple but can't find help in the manual... i'm creating a bunch of histograms and i'd like them to all have same bins (for sake of comparison etc). to change bin size you usually go something like: freeze(graphname) seriesname.hist(binw=arg) where arg = eviews, sigma etc. questio...

Simple question re. forwards compatability: eviews 7.1 to 6

Hi all - I'm sending a smallish workfile created in eviews 7.1 to people using eviews 6. It's only got tables and basic spool objects - no object types that are exclusive to 7. Will they still be able to open it?

Re: GetStocks (fetch stock data)

If you're fiddling around with the code, somewhere in there I put in a hack to allow stocks with names that EViews doesn't like: if @left(%stock,1) = "^" then 'handle the case where a stock name starts with "^", which is an invalid EViews name. %stock = "_" + @mid(%sto...

Re: GetStocks (fetch stock data)

Would it be even better if you combine the two programs by adding an "Australia or United States" radio button on the ui? i could probably do that actually, there are only a few lines needed changing... just have a radio button attached to a !market = 1, have "if !market >0 then /bla...

Re: GetStocks (fetch stock data)

Love this code, you guys are awesome. I tweaked the code a little (tweaked code attached) so that it pullls australian stock market data rather than US (can't just use the icharts .ax suffix as this would imply a period in the output eviews object names). australian users might find it useful.

Re: series "sort" command problem in my program

Hmm ok. I kludged past it using group sorting but it's definitely something I'd appreciate for future use (will probably be using this function a lot over the next year)

Thanks for your prompt reply!

series "sort" command problem in my program

Hi all, I'm writing a program which uses a lot of sorting of series (reasonably large loops etc). Whenever I use the series "sort" command (series_name.sort) the series being sorted is opened on the screen (like using the "show") command. Is there any way I can suppress this? It ...

Re: Distribution display question

Gotcha, I just replaced the .name(1) references with .addtext(b). I'd tried the addtext before but didn't realist you could shift the position of the text. Thanks for your help.

Distribution display question

Hi all, A small question re. presentation of histograms: I've a got a program auto generating many different distributions (6 displayed in xl file for example). I'm happy with most of the presentation however the small blue box in the legend is annoying as it is completely superfluous & looks un...
