Hi
I tried it and it worked. What I didn't realise was that I had to use %text as the text for the graph.
So thanks for all this.

Re: Using last observation in graph text
Yes I copied it straight from here (using copy instruction). Will try again when I get back to the laptop.

Re: Using last observation in graph text
Hi
I just tried @stripquotes to see if this fixed things but it didn't, presumably because I used %last_year still.

Re: Using last observation in graph text
Hi
This works except it puts quotes about the last date, i.e., "2017" rather than 2017 making the label look a little odd.

Re: Toda and Yamamoto causality test
Further point: This is what Tom Doan says about the TY approach: "We've had several recent questions about the use of the Toda-Yamamoto variant on causality tests (including one user who had a referee insist that he use it). The reference on this is Toda, H.Y., Yamamoto, T., 1995. Statistical i...

Re: Using last observation in graph text
The problem isn't getting the last observation, it's concatenating that value with text so that the range displayed in the graph text is updated correctly. For example, suppose the basic text is "Temperature from 1850-". I want to add the date of the last observation to that text so that t...

Using last observation in graph text
How do I convert the date of the last observation in a time series so that I can use the addtext instruction in a graph? The purpose being to update the range of data automatically in a programme. For example, suppose that I want to use the text "Data 1999-lastdate". I've tried x.@last in ...

Re: Appending date ids - possible?
Thanks for this. It'll be very helpful as I really don't know anything about the inner workings of excel.

Re: Appending date ids - possible?
Thanks. I was intending to ring tomorrow (our time) to ask whether there's a problem with their files. However,as I indicated earlier, there appears to be no problem with reading the files into R. And your procedure with xls files worked really well.

Re: Appending date ids - possible?
Thanks that's precisely what I want to avoid. I used to do this. Anyway, I can get the data via an R script. I want to get the data directly into an Eviews programme since for what I want to do is done far better in Eviews. Also, I doubt that the files aren't Excel files. There is a problem with htt...

Re: Appending date ids - possible?
Hi
Since I posted this, the RBNZ has changed to xlsx files. I've tried to modify the procedure suggested above but can get only the data 1999-2013. Is there a way around this?
