Re: Appending date ids - possible?

Thanks for this. It'll be very helpful as I really don't know anything about the inner workings of excel.

Re: Appending date ids - possible?

Thanks. I was intending to ring tomorrow (our time) to ask whether there's a problem with their files. However,as I indicated earlier, there appears to be no problem with reading the files into R. And your procedure with xls files worked really well.

Re: Appending date ids - possible?

Thanks that's precisely what I want to avoid. I used to do this. Anyway, I can get the data via an R script. I want to get the data directly into an Eviews programme since for what I want to do is done far better in Eviews. Also, I doubt that the files aren't Excel files. There is a problem with htt...

Is it possible to modify the programme referred to in this topic for xlsx files?

Re: Appending date ids - possible?

Hi

Since I posted this, the RBNZ has changed to xlsx files. I've tried to modify the procedure suggested above but can get only the data 1999-2013. Is there a way around this?

Re: BBQ add-in

Further to this. Another data series, starting 1955Q1, wouldn't evaluate and the error message was "rows undefined". There's no problem with the data file when I use either R or Winrats 9.2. The recession periods generated in R and Winrats agree closely and are plausible, given the known e...

Re: BBQ add-in

Hi

With the following file when I run the add-in, the series GDPESA crashes resulting in the syntax error message. What's going wrong? The other 2 series give the right dating. (As an aside, the R package can evaluate GDPESA without problems.)

Re: BBQ add-in

It appears that this isn't linking properly (as the BN filter did initially).

Selecting observation in particular quarter

I have quarterly data but I want to select the observation in a particular quarter (e.g. Q1), while dropping the observations in the other quarters in each year. I've been unable to figure out how to do this using Eviews date functions. (I'm using EV10 in case this is relevant.)

Re: Connect to External databases

In case anyone is interested, I just tried retrieving data from the ECB using R and found the connection is working again.

Re: Connect to External databases

Thanks for your suggestions. I had figured out part of the procedure but not the lot.

As far as the proxy server issue goes, if you mean my end then it's irrelevant as I don't use one.
