Programming a series with some zeros to fill in another number

I have some series that have some observations valued at 0. Is there a way to automatically have all 0 observations changed to 1 without having to explicitly tell the program the dates? For example, I know smpl sample variable.fill(s) 1 would work if I make the sample the exact date of the 0, but wi...

programming a graph sample

Is there a way to get the graph I programmed to show only the sample range I want?

I have this:

Code: Select all

'graph graph.line x1 x2

but it shows it with the full workfile sample.

thanks

Re: MIDAS RMSE

You get one forecast for each observation of Y at any one point in time, but you get more than one forecast for Y in real time. If I have January data I can forecast Q1, but then when I get February data I can do another forecast of Q1, same for March. So in a pseudo out of sample forecasting exerci...

Re: MIDAS RMSE

Let me try to better explain my question. In a non-mixed frequency situation its simple. Say I'm trying to explain y, a quarterly variable, with x, another quarterly variable. I get one forecast for every observation of y. Now Midas uses mixed frequencies. So say I'm trying to explain y, a quarterly...

Aggregating comments into a text or table

I'm wondering if rather than commenting out certain things with a ! if there is a way to us the % function to compile certain comments into a table or text file.

thanks!

MIDAS RMSE

Usually when I want RMSEs I code the program to take the first forecast and copy it to another series, then make the second forecast and copy to that same series and on and on so that I have a series of forecasts that I can use to calculate the RMSEs. My quesitons is about MIDAS programs. How do I g...

Syntax error

I'm getting a syntax error when I try to create a moving average in a for loop like this: for !i=1 to mygroupgr.@count %sn = mygroupgr.@seriesname(!i) series {%sn}ma = @movav({%sn},8)) next the same thing works with other functions like this though: for !i=1 to mygroup.@count %sn = mygroup.@seriesna...

Re: Doing everything in a script on two pages

ok, so say I have 10 lines of code, i'll add @pageselect to the 11th line to chose another page. Then, how do I have the program run lines 1 through 10 again on the second page?

Thanks

Doing everything in a script on two pages

Hi,

I have script that does what I need done. Is there a way to have it run through a second time but on a second page at a different frequency?

Thanks a lot!
