close workfile

I often make changes to a program and rerun it. Rather than having to close the window every time I run it I throw a close workfile at the top of my program. The problem is when I run it the first time after opening I have to comment that line out, so just wondering if theres a way to code it so it ...

Re: sample using first and last of a series

I tried

Code: Select all

%last= @last(x)
smpl {%last} {%last}+3

and get the message 'scalar assigned to a string'.

sample using first and last of a series

Hi,

I'd like to program a sample to start one month after the last observation of the series x, and end it one or two months later. I thought this would work

smpl @last(variablex) @last(variablex)+2

But it didnt work.

Can anyone offer another idea?

Thanks

generate an index series

How do I code an index? Say I want all data to be indexed to 2010M01, I was thinking something like

genr newseries= 100*(oldseries/oldseries[2010M01])

but the date reference is wrong...

standard deviation and average

I'd like to create charts of my variables that include the average and the standard deviation of each series. SO the first variable x1 would be plotted against the average of x1 and the average of x1 plus and minus the standard deviation. Now in order to do this I believe I have to create a scalar f...

Charts and text

Is there a simple way, through programming, to create a word document with colour charts and text?

city3 is not defined in "if %city<>city3 then"

Thanks!

How do I skip lines of code?

I'd like to skip a couple lines of code but can't seem to find a way to program it. SImply put I have 3 variables for 2 different cities and only 2 variables for a third city. I would like to skip the data manipulation code for that third variable when I get to the third city. I am using a for loop:...
